Because I'm such a kick-A mom, this past weekend I drove three hours away to take my kids to A Day out with Thomas. We left Friday afternoon and drove to Cordele Georgia (a.k.a. the Watermelon Capital of the world). We stayed in a hotel and the next morning we took a ride on Thomas the Tank Engine on the SAM Shortline. It was a beautiful day. The weather was perfect and the kids had a great time. It was a 25 minute train ride and afterward, there were a bunch of activities for the kids to do. We spent a couple hours eating, playing, bouncing, running and then headed home for our ward trunk or treat. It was a very busy day.
We even got to meet Sir Topham Hat, who is a little creepy looking if you ask me.
Playing on the Thomas train made out of legos.
Running through the hay maze.
Abby tries her hand at some miniature golf.
Avery having a ball at the Imagination Station.
Look at those adorable puppy dog eyes.
This kid was on cloud nine during the whole train ride.

You are a kick-A mom! That looked like tons of fun!
sounds fun. too bad it's so far away!
I really can't believe how brave you are to take your kids out of town and stay at a hotel without your husband. You are seriously kick-A.
I want to be like you someday.
FUN! Well, it looks like there is something fun to do in Georgia after all! Abby's hair is so long and Avery's sooo curly! Cute.
Have fun with mom this weekend.
We did this in Vermont when Ben was 3. Sir Topham Hat was creepy back then, too.
Liam and Amelia have seen pictures of Ben with Thomas and are very jealous. I'll have to watch for it to come back (hopefully closer).

You are brave. Unbelievably brave.
You're an awesome Mom! How fun!
Ditto on the kick-a mom. Flying solo not only for a 3-hour car drive but also a whole day in public with possibly wired kids. My hat is off to you, Sarah Galan.
i've been waiting for this update, glad you had a blast! Three hours away, and then you and I could be halfway... to each other. Oh I LOVE the idea... we'll see if I ever get there.
It looks like your kids had such a good time! You are such a good mom!
What a fun, unstoppable mom you are!
Thanks for giving me the background information that you knew about the Boyd K. Packer talk. 1) I'm relieved to hear that those were truly his words; 2) You answered my secret question of "how did this get recorded and written down?" which was the only thing that made me question its authenticity; 3) I respect his wishes that this be kept in his ward, and I'll do my part to remove it from public view; 4) It was a wake up call for me too; 5) I'm a bit disappointed in myself for being more excited about this than something I'd see in the Ensign. I guess it was the element of finding something genuine like that outside of mainstream Church distribution that got me all excited. :)
Sara you are a Kick-A mom! Day out with Thomas looks fun. The kids look like they had a great time. Super fun!!!!
You survived!! With a smile on your face and everything. If I asked you if it was worth it. I am sure you would have to think for a brief moment and then of coarse say "yes".
Hotels aren't so much fun without dad are they? I remember our first roadtrip after Orange left and he was immediately missed as we pulled up and "I" had to unload the car:( I couldn't just jump out and go get checked in. Nope the whole clan got to come along. I love staying in hotels but not without Orange.
From the pictures and post it looks like you guys had a lot of fun.
Hey after tomorrow we get to check off another month!! I hope you continue to stay busy and hang in there.
Wow that looks like fun! I'm so glad you guys are having a good time in Georgia! Your kids are so big!
How Fun!! I've been to Cordele, you'll have to go back for their watermelon festival, I hear it's pretty cool. Have you found the briar patch yet?
You're the best mom of them all. You're incredibly brave to pack up three kids and do that. I'm sure the kids loved every minutes.
I have heard about this and am really excited that you got to go. My kids are really jealous. Me? Not so much jealous as impressed at your awesomeness :p
You are always doing such fun things with your kids, how do you do it?
