Highway Robbery

Perry is taking a couple of online classes this semester and I was shocked at how much his puny textbooks cost. The one on the left was $45 and the one on the right was $90. These books are not that big and certainly not very thick. And this is only for one class. Why is it that they (whoever "they" are) can charge so much money for a freakin' book! The thing that really irks me, is if we try to sell it back, we probably won't be able to even get a dime for it because they may change one phrase or line in the book and all of the sudden it isn't the LATEST edition anymore. It basically becomes worthless after one use. Well that isn't entirely true, the books Perry bought were USED! We payed that price for used books. So what was the price for new? You can't really tell from the picture, but the books aren't even standard textbook size, they are the size of a short novel. Shouldn't that mean less money? Okay, maybe I am ignorant on this subject, and if any of you have any more insight than me on this please fill me in.

And while I am complaining about things. It really stinks here. I mean it smells really bad outside. I guess I live near a paper mill or something? Pew! Okay, I'm done with my ranting.

Where did you buy them? I got most of my textbooks on Amazon.com used for about half price. I ended up paying $125 for 5 books. It still stinks how much they cost though.

I'm so glad you smell the smell!!!! My husband thinks I'm delusional because I'm always complaining that it smells like rotten cauliflower outside.

We're so ready to move again. Anywhere.

Be grateful he isn't in dental school. We paid over $500 every semester for textbooks. For 8 semesters. Yeah. I think we had a couple that were over $150 (I think they had software inside too, but still!)

You really should try to re-sell them on Amazon when you are done. You might be surprised how much you get back.

I hope the rain has washed the stank out of the air. I don't know what it is, but some days when I walk out my front door, I swear it smells like someone pooped on my front porch. And again in my driveway. Sick.

Oh I hear ya on the textbook scandal. My finance book cost $150 at the bookstore but I ended up buying it on half.com for $60. They rob you that's for sure. You have not choice either. I can rant and rave too!!! It's yucky that it smells yucky. I'm so happy to smell the ocean!

Textbooks are such a rip-off! I just bought my accounting book for $18 on Amazon, and it was supposed to be $160 new. Thank goodness I found a used one--this time.

Sarah Amen to everything you just said. I am so glad Jeremy is finished with his BS. However, we are about to start on a Masters and I am afraid of the price of text books.

Oh textbooks!! We just paid 400 for this semester for my books alone. That's for 3 classes. It's so ridiculous!

I forgot all about the stinky smell there. Yeah, I think the smell might be coming from the Kimberley Clark factory. At least that was what we were told. Maybe it's one of the other factories though. I agree with Brandi - it's rotten cauliflower all the way! Or cabbage.

Hee Hee Hee. i laugh because I remember the smell SO WELL!! I thought when I left GA I would never have to smell it again. WRONG!! There's a paper mill in Everett, plus a couple of sloughs. THEY STINK!!! I don't know if you'll ever get used to it. Have you been to the discovery museum yet?

Hey Brandi, my vote is Hungary! And Sarah, it's ridiculous and good luck trying to sell them back. It's lame. How many classes until he's done though?

I hear ya... Tyler's most expensive book was $180! We were able to sell it for $130 when he was done but that still sucks.

Oh... I would love to be long-distance workout buddies =)

Yep... tht is pretty standard (and pretty crooked)pricing for text books. I know it is so lame. I swear... I spent half as much on textbooks as I did for tuition for my undergrad!

Paper Mill?? I would think that a paper mill would smell good?
